1. What inspired you to become an illustration agent with Yeon Agency?

As an artist-sportive-researcher with a passion for visual arts, film, and performing arts, I was immediately drawn to Yeon Agency's mission to promote innovative and diverse voices in the illustration world. After completing my Fine Art doctoral program at the University of Leeds, I knew I wanted to use my unique perspective and experience to help connect talented artists with clients who share our vision and values.

2. What excites you the most about the role so far?

One of the things I love most about being an artist agent is the chance to work with talented illustrators from all over the world. As someone who has exhibited and collaborated internationally, I believe in the power of connecting and communicating across cultures. I take pride in supporting our clients to bring their visions to life while helping our illustrators grow and succeed.

3. What are your goals here at Yeon Agency?

At Yeon, we are committed to championing creativity. My primary goal is to help our illustrators expand their global reach while advancing their illustration and business potential by pairing them with the right publishers and client projects. I'm eager to work with my colleagues to explore and showcase innovative and diverse art, bridging the gap between the East and West through our artists' unique perspectives and styles.

4. How will your previous experience help you in your role at Yeon Agency?

My previous experiences in art teaching, academic mentoring, and athletics coaching have given me a strong foundation in communication, mentorship, and project management. As an illustration agent, I'm ready to put these skills into practice to match artists with clients, manage projects, and ensure that every project is delivered with the highest quality standards. With my interdisciplinary background, I'm excited to bring new and innovative ideas to the agency and make a difference in the world of illustration.

5. What's it like to work with an international group of illustrators?

Working with an international group of illustrators is an exciting and rewarding experience. Cultural differences can influence the creative process and lead to unique and innovative art. I've learned, taught, and lived in several countries spanning East Asia and Europe, which has given me a deeper appreciation for diversity and the power of collaboration. Even though working across time zones and cultures can be challenging, the benefits of connecting and collaborating with illustrators worldwide are immeasurable.

6. What's your top tip for an illustrator who wants to get into publishing?

Consistency, creativity, and connection. You must be persistent in creating and refining your craft while also being open to learning and collaborating with others. Building relationships and networking in the industry is also vital, as is having a clear and unique artistic vision that sets you apart from the rest. But remember, you're never alone - at Yeon, we always emphasize the importance of solid, trustful teamwork. It's the key to helping individual artists achieve their career goals.

7. How do you like to spend your free time?

I love reading, traveling, and participating in outdoor activities when I'm not working. I also enjoy dancing and spending time with my friends and family.
