Yumeno Furukawa

Yumeno Furukawa is a Japanese illustrator based in the UK. She has completed Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Printmaking at Tama Art University in Japan. Yumeno is influenced by her experience as an art teacher, leading her to develop an interest in picture book illustration and creation. In 2019, she earned a Master's degree in Children’s Book Illustration from Anglia Ruskin University.

Though she has only relatively recently started her career as an illustrator, Yumeno has already been selected as a long-list artist at the World Illustration Awards and dPICTUS The Unpublished Picturebook Showcase 5, and has illustrated for Peace Is a Chain Reaction by Tanya Lee Stone.

Line drawings are an essential feature of her pictures. She loves to use delicate lines completed by the addition of colour and texture. Her projects tend to look at the challenges, struggles, and little hiccups in life that we all encounter, and feature endearing, human-like creatures that inhabit these narratives.
