Artist Feature: Yumeno Furukawa Aug 09 2024

We have a lovely addition to the Yeon Agency, Yumeno Furukawa!

Yumeno is a Japanese illustrator based in the UK. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in Printmaking at Tama Art University in Japan. Yumeno's experience as an art teacher led her to develop an interest in picture book illustration and creation. In 2019, she earned a Master's degree in Children’s Book Illustration from Anglia Ruskin University.

Yumeno has already been long-listed for the World Illustration Awards and dPICTUS in the Unpublished Picturebook Showcase 5, and has illustrated for Peace Is a Chain Reaction by Tanya Lee Stone.

Line drawings are an essential feature of her pictures. She loves to use delicate lines to which she then adds colour and texture. Her projects tend to look at the challenges, struggles, and little hiccups in life encountered by us all, and feature endearing, human-like creatures that inhabit these narratives.
