I’m hugely inspired by my surroundings, whether it’s the drama of city life or the solitude of the forest and moors. After many years in London and Brighton, I’ve returned to my home county of Yorkshire, and live in Sheffield with my two daughters and several loyal cactus plants.
As far back as I remember, I’ve been influenced by French children’s book illustration. I particularly love they way many illustrators draw cars and characters. There’s something about that world that has always ignited my imagination. I like to create my artwork by hand using many different materials. However, I often digitally collage the final image, as I enjoy the scope this brings, and it appeals to my experimental side.
