Artist Feature: Adam Howling Jan 26 2024

Adam is a talented illustrator who grew up in rural Norfolk, U.K. He studied illustration at the Norwich School of Art and Design, graduated in 2002 and began pursuing his passion as a career.

He developed his illustration style post-graduation, where his pieces evolved as he started working on a wide variety of illustration projects for national newspapers, magazines, advertising, and publishing projects.

Adam’s ‘mid-century modern’ inspired illustrations bring together playfulness and a sense of humour with a limited colour palette. He likes to experiment with digital techniques to emulate vintage printing processes, adding a tactile quality to his illustrations.

Adam is a prolific illustrator, and his work has appeared internationally, on newspapers, books, online, and on billboards. Notable clients that he has worked with include The Radio Times, The Guardian, The Times, and Puffin Books.
