Yoshimi was born and raised in Japan. She grew up moving from northern Japan to the south, town by town, because of her father’s work. Moving around, she saw many different cityscapes and landscapes that influenced and inspired her work. Yoshimi also grew up around a lot of animals, and they are still some of her favorite things to draw.
Yoshimi studied architectural design at university but started to pursue illustration when a professor told her "You are better suited for drawing than designing in selecting jobs". Since then, Yoshimi has been working as a freelance children’s book illustrator. She mainly works digitally but likes to combine digital with traditional techniques such as painting and colored pencils.
