Artist Feature: Ester Gouw Jul 31 2024
Artist FeaturesEster Gouw is a children's book illustrator with a passion for children’s education. She grew up in the green town of Borneo, Indonesia where she drew every day, and now she resides in Madrid, Spain. After teaching for 8 years, she decided to continue educating young children by creating impactful illustrations full of storytelling.
Her interest in diversity lead her to learn to speak English, Chinese, Spanish and Indonesian. As a young girl, Ester loved Biblical stories and folk tales that included good and bad moral messages as well as miracles and magic. Often inspired by her students and her childhood, Ester enjoys illustrating Christian and magical themed picture books that focus on morals and childhood behaviour. She is always delighted to show her new artworks and receives many commissions from her little friends.
Ester is a very driven individual who continues to sharpen her illustration skills through her personal projects as well as client commissioned work. She loves working on both traditional (watercolour, pencils, and gouache) and digital (Procreate and Photoshop) illustrations. When she is not drawing, she spends time with her young daughter and son creating fun "DIY" crafts and children's' worksheets, reading stories, and even making educational videos for YouTube alongside her daughter.
