Born and raised in Manila, Cheng Batislaong is a freelance children’s book illustrator. With a fine arts degree in advertising, she worked as an art director at advertising agencies before becoming a full-time illustrator. Growing up, she was obsessed with the bright, colorful, and dynamic characters of animated shows like Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Codename: Kid’s Next Door, and Dexter’s Laboratory. Cheng likes to emulate these tones and styles in her work.
As a freelance illustrator, Cheng has worked with clients from the US, UK, Canada, Japan, and South Africa. Inspired by her love for kids and their literature, Cheng has illustrated a diverse array of local and international children’s books with themes that range from educational to stories about bravery, disability, and resilience.
