The Illumination Christian Book Awards were created to celebrate the best new titles written from a Christian perspective. With so many amazing Christian-themed books released each year, they aim to ‘shine a light’ on the very best of these new titles. Emiliano's illustrations for the book Welcome to Bible World were selected to be the Bronze Medal recipient in the Education category.
Let's hear from Emiliano on how he created the illustrations for the book.
Q: What media did you use for this artwork?
I usually use paper, light blue pencil, black pencil, photoshop, and a lot of patience.
Q: What was your process like?
In this kind of work I usually make a sketch in light blue pencil, then redraw it with a black pencil and scan that sketch. Later, I meticulously ink each element (digitally) and, finally, paint everything in Photoshop.
Q: Is there anything that you want particularly want to highlight in this piece?
I would like to highlight the enormous patience that we illustrators have when making these kinds of detailed books... We could easily become Tibetan monks!
Q: Do you have any words of thanks?
It is nice to receive these recognitions, especially when we make so much effort to achieve a high quality result
